I am using aa Acer Aspire 5349-2592 running Windows 8.  I have downloaded java JDK 8.  When I go to cmd and enter

C:\>java

I get an long speel from java starting

Usage: java [-options ] ...etc

and going on for about fifteen lines

Then I get a

C:\>

prompt instead of the

C:\java>

prompt shown in the instuctions for "Hello World"

also when I start java mission control i gat a message that says

No local (attachable JVMs were detected etc.

Can any one help?

This doesn't sound like an issue with the notebook but an issue with the Java program not being installed correctly or missing some components. I would suggest visiting Javas support page and ask this question as they should have an answer for you.
