my shift keys stopped working on my aspire v3 772g 9460.  sticky keys are not on and my windows updates are up to date.  i do not know what else to do. i bought this pc new about 6 months ago.

you might try installing again the Shift Key Shortcuts.. another ? have you updated from Win 8 to ???, if you have updated, you might simply need to Reinstall Acer Driver pack..

I have updated to 8.1.  I updated right when i got the laptop.  This just recently started happening about a week ago.

reason i ask, is currently M$ has pulled some updates, due to "Issues" and Windows is actually up to windows 8.1 up1 plus Aug updates = 8.1.2 You might try REFresh and see if that fixes... if you do not want to REFRESH then you might check your RESTORE POINTS. also check event view to see when if it tells your issues started...
