I have acer aspire 4755g and it have Intel I5 processor that have been installed with the motherboard, it also have nvidia geforce gt540m 1gb, but unfortunate event came to me, my motherboard have been damaged because of static that made it fried up, so I need to replace the darn thing, then I was doing my research about my laptop and I found that my laptop have 2 version, one with I5 processor and the other one with I7 processor, so my question is if I replace my i5 motherboard with the one that come with I7 motherboard will it be compatible? So this laptop are basically the same even in term of the size and shape. And it even have the same 14" inch display. So any info? And also the one with I7 come with nvidia geforce gt540m 2gb ram. Hello mangaboy190,

For information (Aspire 4755G):

  1. Motherboard:
MB.RNE01.001MAIN BD.N12PGS.2GB.HM65.LF
MB.RRB01.001MAIN BD.N12PGS.HM65.WO/3G

2. CPU:

KC.24101.DMPCPU.I5-2410M.2.3G.35W/2/4
KC.24301.DMPCPU.I5-2430M.2.4G.35W/2/4
KC.24501.DMPCPU.I5-2450M.2.5G.35W/3/1333
KC.25201.DMPCPU.I5-2520M.2.5G.35W/2/4
KC.25401.DMPCPU.I5-2540M.2.6G.35W/2/4
KC.26201.DMPCPU.I7-2620M.2.7G.35W/2/4
KC.26301.QMPCPU.I7.2630QM.2.0G/3M/45W.PGA
KC.26701.QMPCPU.I7.2670QM.2.2G/6M/45W.PGA
KC.27201.QMPCPU.I7.2720QM.2.2G/3M/45W.PGA

They are equipped of the same GPU (Nvidia N12P-GS-A1) and chipset (Intel HM65 Express). The difference is the graphic memory and LF (?) and WO/3G (without 3G module).

Re: motherboard replacement

@laurent_14
Tq for the reply and the useful info, so does that mean it will be ok if I replace that motherboard with I5 processor to I7 processor to my laptop? So I'm sure it will be ok to use with the different graphic memory and with or without the 3g module, but i'm not so sure about the LF? Can you explain about the LF?

Hello mangaboy190,

For LF, I don't know what it means... but you can find the part number of your motherboard like this:

Image-1.jpg

or directly write MB.PT401.001 on a label (example).

1- When you'll try to recorver your system, perhaps you'll have a little issue because the 3G module is integrated.

If you have no driver in erecovery, it'll stop because it won't find the device. (I hope it's clear!)

With an original windows dvd, no problem.

2- About the processor, no problem.

Hello mangaboy190,

In first, I thank you for your kudos.

  1. Yesterday, I made a mistake:" If you have no driver in erecovery, it'll stop because it won't find the device." It's the reverse! driver ---> no device ---> the recovery stops :smileyembarrassed:
  2. Did you find the part number on your motherboard?
  3. About WO/ or W/O, I think it means With Onboard (more logic)
  4. About LF, I research again.

Re: motherboard replacement

and also by device you mean like the component such as graphic card, processor, hard drive and disk drive, right?

and i haven't check my part number on my motherboard since i sent it at local repair shop, but i think my motherboard part number is MB.RNE01.001,

Re: motherboard replacement

Hello,

Yes, it's all you say (all you see on Device manager).

The more important is the difference between the 2 motherboards. One of them have a 3G module onboard.

If you have the driver in your erecovery medias and the new motherboard hasn't the 3G module, the recovery stop because it don't find the device.

About LF, it's just an indication because I see it often on many descriptions like AC adapter, memory, HDD, DVD and I think it's about packaging.
