Hi,

just checked my microsoft updates and there's an optional install intel corporation graphics adapter wddm1.1 driver update for my aspire v5-571p win 8.1 - should I install this?

If not, should I check for driver updates on the acer site (and how should I determine whether I install one that I find)?

Everything seems to be working ok at the moment (though I would like to know if my machines drivers allow wifi direct streaming, and if not whether updates are available that would allow this).

You can install it. This driver does nothing harmful to your system. I also got this update and installed it.
