I have a acer aspire 7741z - 5731 model MS2309 that wont turn on but when i plugin the charger the blue charger led functions  but power wont work will i need to replace the motherboard? and can any 7741z motherboard be compatible with this laptop?

It sounds like you are on the right track. It could be the mainboard, but if you have access to another ac adapter that you know is good, I would recommend trying that charger. If the problem persists, then yes you could replace the mainboard. I recommend using an Acer authorized repair facility or take it to a local technician for assistance.
