Wifi Aspire ONE

I have an Acer Aspire One on which the LAN works fine.  The Win XP WiFi connection can connect to the router and receives an IP address.  When trying to Ping the router in either safe mode or regular mode all return packets are lost.  I have updated the driver with the one on the Acer website with no difference in service.  I have removed all virus and firewall programs to be sure they are not part of the problem.  What have I overlooked or what could be causing this issue, and what might be a solution?

Are you able to ping the router from other WAN devices?

Open a "command prompt" and type:

    IPCONFIG /ALL >myTCP.txt

then attach that file here. (you must find it under c:\User\yourusername)

Yes I am able to communicate with the router with other wifi devices.  The LAN connection works fine on this Acer.  Things I have done: removed virus and firewall, reinstalled driver from Acer site, complete virus check and maintenance.  Normally as I work through this I have the Eithernet connection removed.  Since I don't know how to attach a file I'm inserting the text from the command you requested I run.

Want to try the latest Atheros drivers?

    http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=22&system=1

    Download the 10.0.0.274

those drivers need to be installed manually, so in my opinion it's better that you uninstall your wireless adapter from "Device Manager", reboot and then install.

then follow this instructions from the Intel website on how to manually install drivers (change vga with your wireless adapter):

    http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-030331.htm

Oh by the way, i will reboot the router too and check if it blocked/blacklisted the mac address or IP.

I uninstalled the wireless networking, but the computer still finds the wireless network... is this normal??

I downloaded your recommended driver, but it looks like a self installing application   " Application (.exe)  DriverTuner Setup "  is this normal?

Yes it's normal that it find the wifi adapter.

double click on wifi adapter on Device manager, then click on "Driver" tab and click on "update driver", click on "browse my computer...." and point to the folder where you unzip the driver package and click next or ok.

Reboot after driver installation and try to connect/ping your router.

THANKS SO MUCH for your help!

I was able to ping the router from the Wifi network.  However the brouser search has been changed to Trovi which I think caused this whole problem in the first place.  I thought I removed it completely with a tool but I guess not.  Now what?
