I've talked to Acer support, no help. So I'm asking the community.
Why? It works on everything except this new Laptop I bought. And I bough it cause it had Linpus. But Acer never installed a GUI, so I have to do things for myself.
Why does Linpus work and not Mint when Mint is the number 1 Linux distribution in the world?
So frustrated with that 555 number that no one answers.
Thanks.

I just changed my AO D257 to Mint ,if you want to do this your going to need a 4GB USB pen drive . ..about 1 to 2 hours time ,do you know how to format a drive? if you do I'll show you how to make it boot able for linux .

Hi,
What is an AO D257. Is it a model?
Why can't I iinstall from CD like always?
I have a strong suspicion it's the video card Acer put in there. Because Mint 15 installs but runs on "Rendering Mode" and Mint 16 wont boot and just shows a Black Screen.
I suspect this beacuse I was told they are an "Elite" partner of Micro$oft now. So I'm thinking the MS guys are having them rig it to reject Linux distros. I searched the net and it seems to be a prevailing problem with the newer Acers since they tied up with MS. Even Ubuntu won't boot. I'm typing this now on my 5 year old Acer desktop running Mint 16 and it's flawless.
Thanks.

You can take off your tin foil hat now. E1-410 has 64 bit mother broad - your 5yr old PC is 32 bit- Mother Broad . The Mint 16 your running on your desktop is 32bit ISO. and will not work on E1-410. Down load Mint 16-64bit ISO ,copy to DVD,load on E1-410 .

OK, I will try that. Did not realize that. Yes, I've been downloading 32 bit distros. Thanks for the advise.
BTW, What's does "tin foil hat" mean? Sorry, I'm Filipino and I don't understand some slang ![]()
