As usual I seem to have acquired a laptop which is the only one in existence -_- I search the model number and nothing comes up so, I either suck at googling, or I just suck, or I really do have yet another unique laptop.
The motherboard on this one is absolutely fried and won't even turn on, a few laptop repair shops have all said it, and looked at me like I'm a heathen.
Acer Aspire 5755g-2676G50Mnks
Model no: P5WE0
S/N:
SNID:
Sorry if I have missed out some hidden secret uber important code from somewhere.
And I really hope you Acer folks are more friendly than the guys over at the HP forums, currently using my HP laptop and when I went over there concerning my touch screen they were grumpy gits.
The Acer is i7 but I'm unsure of RAM. The internet tells me it's 8GB RAM but my boyfriend tells me it's 6.
Thank you in advance for your PATIENCE

Hello Gypsy_Julene,
If that Acer Aspire comes in original condition, it will have 6GB of RAM and it is Intel-Core i7.
i7 is made for those who enjoy gaming with realible speed. But unfortunatelly, Acer Aspire 5755g-2676G50Mnks doesn't come up with graphics processor card. If you are going to buy it, you won't need motherboard.

Thanks for replying. I already have the laptop, like I say it used to be my boyfriends laptop, but he's been told by a few different specialists that he's burned the motherboard out and it needs replacing. However they charge £450+ and a good friend a laptop repairman said I could get the motherboard for this model for around £100 - 200.
You have confused me
If it's not the motherboard I need, what is it?

Hello,
I'm sorry but your post title said "What motherboard do I need..." and you were telling about laptop. ![]()
As far as I know, we can't change motherboard inside the laptop. If it so, it would be risky. The best thing you can do is to get it repaired or get new laptop since the motherboard is a very vital part of computer machine.
Does that laptop still run well? If it so, you don't need to replace the motherboard.

Dio I.

The laptop doesn't run at all and as I mentioned in my first post, a few different repairmen have all said the motherboard is dead and if I don't want to pay the massive fee, I can buy my own motherboard and have them fit it for me..

It is actually possible to buy a notebook motherboard directly from china for a quarter of the price a repair would cost.
But its difficult because:
You have to research which mainboard you actually have and make sure you get a fitting one (fitting as in space and fitting as in electronic and compatibility) and if unsure the exact same you already have would be the best.
Field Service Manuals you find on the internet will help you determine parts.
Disassembling and reassembling a notebook is difficult and if you are not careful and patient and look 5 times before you do something it is easy to break more things. Especially if you do not do such things often.
It will propably kill your windows license if its a retail one, because your Hardware Id changes.
If its a SLIC-baked-into-firmware license it should work as usual.
