Hello,

I Have an Aspire 5745G Notebook With following Hardware.

CPU : Intel® Core™ i7-640M Processor (4M Cache, 2.80 GHz)

GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GT 420M 1GB

HDD : Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B HTS545050B9A 5400rpm 500GB 2.5" HDD

RAM : 2 X Samsung M471B5673FH0-CH9 2GB DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600

DVD RW : Mat**bleep**a DVD-RAM UJ890AS

I bought it about 2-3 years ago. At that time, these specs were more than enough for me. But nowadays I need little more power for the same machine. I'm not going to buy a new laptop.

1) Could I replace existing Motherboard with the newer generation processor supported MB? Al least 2nd gen. Or better if 3rd or 4th  Then I can use powerful processor with it.

2) What about graphics then? Newer GT 700 Series 2GB graphic card is better, ain't it?

3) Nowadays 500GB Storage is not enough for me. Wishing to upgrade it to 750GB or 1TB. (My current board has SATA 2, That's why I need newer MB too)

4) 4GB Ram, Uh.. Newer 64 bit apps are eating my ram. So my lappy is too slow now. I Need big upgrade to 8GB or 16GB. Is it possible with the current MB?

5) Also better if I would be able to upgrade my DVD Writer to the Bluray Rom.

Anyway what is your opinion about the above upgrades? Just dunt tell me that go for the new system.  I just want to know, which HW is updatable.
