Hi

I've got a Acer Apire 5810TZ-4657 with WIndows Vista. I have tried to format it trying to intall a new OS, WIndows 7, and am unable to do so from either a USB or CD/DVD. Choosing either from the F12 boot from menu leads to a blinking cursor only with no obvious actions happening. I've ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor thinking it might not be able to run it but that came back say it could. I couldn't really find any previous topics that directly relate to the issues I am having, or at least from what I can tell. While computers aren't a strong point for me I am unable to figure out if I am doing something wrong or not. Thank you for the help

On some systems, you may need to enable the boot menu before you can access it.

To enable the F12 Boot Menu:

Restart the computer.

Press the F2 key to enter computer's BIOS Setup during Power-On Self-Test, or POST, process  while the Acer logo is being displayed.

Press the Right Arrow key to select Main, Select F12 Boot Menu, Press the Enter key, Select Enabled, Press the Enter key

Press the F10 key and then press the Enter key to save the changes and restart the computer.

The other option is to chage the first boot in boot tab to Cd drive or USB boot device.

Power your computer off and then on it,  Insert the CD or Connect the USB on your computer.

Power your computer on and press the F2 key when the splash screen first appears.

From the BIOS, use your arrow keys to move and highlight the Boot menu.

In the Boot list make sure that the first device is the CD drive name  or USB HDD followed by a model name.

Use the arrow keys to highlight your CD drive name or USB HDD and press F6 to move it to the top of the list.

Use the arrow keys to highlight Exit menu at the top of your screen.

Press ENTER on the Exit Saving Changes option and Enter again to confirm changes.

Select CD drive name or USB boot from the Boot Option menu and press the Enter key.

Follow the instructions on your screen.

I have tried setting the boot order to what you listed but both instances only had the blinking cursor showing.
