The USB drive plugged to the notebook disconnects sometimes unintensionally. Especially if the plug into the USB3 port is touched (rocked a little to the side).
Is there anything to do about that?

I would take it to a repair shop and have it fastened more securely.

Don´t think that would help, because when the USB drive (WD Elements 1042) is plugged into the other USB3 port, it also breaks occasionally and during connecting procedure Windows report "this drive would perform faster ..." while the other USB drive (WD Elements 1048) performs correctly in both ports. So it´s not the notebook... 1048 is about 1 year old. The 1042 is maybe a half year older.
Guess buying a new USB drive is the easiest solution

Can you use a different cord ? I have seen the wires lose contact right at the end.

Hey, why didn´t I think of that
-----------
Just tested it by using the cable from the other WD drive. And apparently that works okay - it doesn´t loose connection by touch or rocking the plug! Thanks.
