Thanks.  I was looking at the Source site, and I had actually bought one of these as a gift.... when I asked the clerk at the store they said YES and when I asked LIVE HELP on the source website they said yes, but like you said, if you look at the specs it says NO.  So, short of me opening the box, I was wondering if anyone really knew for sure.

The Acer E1-522-5885 has NO DVD drive on-board. I found that out after I had it for a couple of weeks when I decided that I would play a Movie from my collection. I was ready to return it but got an LG portable drive instead that was cheaper than a tank of gas for my small car and works just fine through the USB 2.0 Port.

I do find the touch-pad a bit too sensitive at times, though.
