Dear Forum

I am being asked for a System Start Up password on my son's ACER V5 but do not remember ever setting one up. Can anyone advise what I need to do.

If a password is not set up, then one should be able to enter without one.

Set up user passwords in: Control Panel ---> User Accounts

If you cannot get in:

Push the Shut down button's "arrow >" and use the alternate Log Off to see all accounts on the computer.

Hi thanks for responding. I am being asked this before I get to the Windows login page. It says I need a password to start up.

That is unusual. Try shutting the machine off and replugging from the wall for a moment. Disconnect the internet connection.

Restart to see if it continues into Windows.

If not:

When the machine starts you should see an opportunity to Press F2 (enter bios). Don't save any changes in there until you're familiarized with the Bios. Follow the control directives until you are able to see the bios password controls settings. Leave Bios without saving changes, if you feel it necessary to get further assist.
