Stop graphics card switching, is it possible ?

[ Editado ]

Heelo,

I just bought an Acer Aspire V3-772G-747a161.12TBDWarmm and this has an integrated GPU : Intel HD Gprahics 4600 and a dedicated GPU : GeForce GTX 760m and i wanted to know if it's possible to stop the GPU's switching. I also want to mention that i keep the laptop mostly charged on, not on battery. I play lots of games and most of them dont see the GeForce GPU in setup/settings ...they see the Intel one. I noticed that the monitor is connected to the Intel GPU.

Re: Stop graphics card switching, is it possible ?

I'd also like to know if/how this is possible. I've just bought the Aspire V3-772 largely on the basis of the GForce 760M and a promised 1900x1080 display. I am not getting that in Windows. The intel integrated graphics are being used with a max resolution of 1600x900.

Other than this the laptop seems excellent but this is a major disappointment for me.

You should R-clic on Desktop>NVIDIA Control Panel>Manage 3D Settings>Global Settings>High-Performance Nvidia Processor

Re: Stop graphics card switching, is it possible ?

what the user above me suggested will work just fine.

it will set the default graphics processor to your nvidia card, so if your laptop is not plugged in, it will drain the battery a lot faster. if you're using your laptop on battery a lot, i'd suggest opening the nvidia control panel, clicking on the 'desktop' menu at the top of the window and checking the 'add "run with graphics processor" tocontext menu' option.

you can then right click on a games executable and select the graphics processor you would like to use for this game.

that way you can choose to use your nvidia card only for the games that require it and avoid draining your battery when not playing games.
