I have a Aspire 5736Z laptop.

All of a sudden the only time I can move the cursor is when I press the space bar just in the middle of it.

It will not move the cursor when I press it on the sides (left or right)

Any suggestions on how to fix or can this be fixed?

This could be ware to the spacebar key retainer or cap. This means the key does not register unless it gets pressed in the center where the key cap may be located. The notebook could require a keyboard replacement and I would recommend contacting technical support in your region for assistance.
