Hi, I created a recovery USB using Acer Recovery Management. Will I be able to restore to factory settings if I copy the contents of the USB to an external hard drive and use the external hard drive as the recovery drive? I am using Windows 8.1 on an Acer Aspire E1-410. Thanks ![]()

From what I've seen, that will not work. Microsoft has some guidelines and requirements that have to be followed in creating the backup. It requires the drive to be wiped and then loaded with the bootable setup to work. Is there a way a round it? Probably, but that's just because anything is possible with a computer and the appropriate knowledge.
So, if you copied the contents over to a HDD, that HDD isn't going to boot unless it's formatted properly with MS's setup. Copy/pasting it back and forth to the flash drive won't work unless the flash drive hasn't been changed (and even then I'm not sure that's going to work either.

Thanks for answering
Will the recovery work if I create an .iso file from the recovery USB?
