Hi, are these out of production?   Other than the occasional unit on ebay or amazon (at above original RRP), I can't seem to find them online anywhere.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Please tell me Acer isn't giving up on their hinge design!  This is by far the best laptop I've ever owned, and I am hoping for a next generation release.  Please Acer, don't give up on the hinge, it's brilliant!

I agree but I am afraid it will be abandonned.

The design requires for people to actually try it for a while in order to fully realize how great it is, but at fisrt in a store, I think most people dismissed it and I am afraid it did not do well in sales.

Too bad as it truly is a great design.

Thanks for the comments.  Bestbuy.com has it marked discontinued and from reading other sites, the B&M bestbuys unloaded them months ago.  Acer Outlet just sold some refurbs on ebay but they are sold out now.   Hopefully there is an R7-573/Broadwell in the works but some sites quoted Acer reps saying they sold OK in Europe but very poorly in the States so even if there is a new one, we might not get it.

I asked this same question only a couple of weeks ago.  A reply stated there were talks of a 3rd iteration is due soon.  The lack of 572s just means they are clearing out stock before announcing the newest one.

A new r13 and R14 was shows at a tech conference last week. The R13 is similar but smaller with the hinge on the sides. r14 is more like a Lenovo.

Heres hoping Acer makes one more release later this year with similar build quality and size as 572 but adds SSD and new Intel processor. Bonus if they use the "eraser" instead of the trackpad.

Refurbs from Acer are available on Amazon for $569 with free Shipping. Search for Aspire R7-572-6423. Get them before they are gone. Even if Acer does release the R7-573, chances are it will be modified, possibly without the mSata connection, cheaper build, or who knows what else. $569 for the R7 is a steal. Add the Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Internal Solid State Drive for $119 if you want SSD speed.

Total price $688.

Do you know if these offers on Amazon are aligible for Acer Extended Warranty?

If an SSD is installed would it violate the warranty?

If you can open your R7 to add and SSD, you can open it and remove it before sending it for repair
