New RAM doesn' boot windows

I recently purchased new RAM to upgrade my Acer Aspire 5741-3541 from 4Gb to 8Gb. I purchased corsair valueselect CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 for it. The new RAM fits perfectly in place. but when window 7 starts to boot it stops and goes to a page that says something like. "Windows is unable to boot properly due to new or different hardware." It gives me two options to either '"try to fix problem" or to "try starting windows". When I click try to fix the problem it doesn't do anything.

Not really sure whats going on. Does the computer run at all if the RAM isn't compatible? How do I get into BIOS. Can I change any settings to get this to work. When I Click F2 in the Acer screen it identifies that there is 8gb but it does't let me change anything. I put the 4Gb back in and it works.

Re: New RAM doesn' boot windows

Hi,
I think you have purchased a RAM that has 1.5v and i think your system RAM supports 1.3v. Just to confirm that visit crucial.com and use their system scanning tool

As you can see that i have highlighted in both the images the voltage of it.

Its clearly seen that the voltage for your laptop Ram is 1.35V but the one bought by you has 1.5V.

This may be a reason for your laptop for not booting

Re: New RAM doesn' boot windows

I believe you might be right but when I go to the best buy website the memory that they suggest are both 1.5v. which is where I got the RAM from.

Re: New RAM doesn' boot windows

In many cases we have seen that the voltage of RAM has been an issue... just for a chance u can change and see if it works
