Where is it on the Aspire One Netbook?

It's probably a magnet somewhere in the screen suround and a detector on the motherboard.Possibly just to the left of the left hinge. Use a paper clip around the screen suround and you will probably find the magnet.Then you can use a weak magnet, like a refridgerator magnet, on the corresponding area of the base to trip it.Set the notebook to sleep when closing the lid when you try it.

I couldn't find any magnets around the perimeter of the screen with a paperclip.  Maybe it's the other way around.  The whole perimeter of the screen responds to a magnet.  Main reason I asked was to look for some bizarre malfunction of the lid-off system which might be causing my machine to power down after 4 seconds.  Long shot.
