My mom spilled coffee on her Aspire V3 laptop, and now the mouse buttons don't work.  The touch screen still moves the cursor, but the buttons don't respond.  How can I fix/clean these buttons safely?

Only by disassembling the whole unit, until you are able to see whether there are still coffee in the notebook. You can't be certain that all is dry now. It was enough to break something, that is mostly a bad sign.
