Here are some of the questions that I can answer that I've seen a few times.
RAM: The R7-572 has 2 RAM slots with 0 onboard RAM and supports upto 16GB.
Stylus: The stylus was recently added to the US Acer Store - http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/pd/Them

I got mine yesterday at Best Buy. Had to find it online and then be insistent with the employee to find. They had 2. So far I think my wifi is fine--need to use it at more places to be sure. The pen is the N-Trig duo sense 2 like all the new sonys have (duo, flip etc). I am using the Sony pen. N-Trig 2 is a great system for handwriting and notes--on par with wacom IMHO. Not sure about it for artwork. Glad to answer questions too.

Just a quick idea for legzam. Based on experience, try re-installing BIOS by going to Acer's driver downloads for your model. Also see if there is an updated BIOS patch. As always, backup first.

Thaks 2much2do, I did that too. The problem is the same as with the first generation R7, if I get close to the router I get good signal, but as I walk away the wirelees connectivity gets bad again, this does not happen with any of the other wireless divices, including my 3 years old Aspire 7740. It is a real shame, I was willing to put up with the fact that the machine has an HDD instead of the SSD, but without wireless connectivity this machine is not usuable for me.

"legzam", as frustrated as you are for Acer not guaranteeing that they could send you a working replacement, I think you are MUCH better off that they didn't. If they did "promise" you that, and you went that route, you would now be locked in with them only (no Best Buy return). So, if you got a bad replacement, as many others have, you couldn't bring it back to Best Buy.
I suggest you return it to Best Buy, get another one, and test it immediately before you spend any time personalizing it. Return it also if it doesn't work. Keep doing this until you get a good one. Best Buy normally gives you 15 days to return it, but now during the holidays, the return period is extended until Jan 15. So, you have until then to keep swapping to get a good one (if there truely are good ones).
I'm on the sidelines waiting to buy, and that is going to be my strategy. There is a long history of this problem, and no screwing around with loading drivers or updating the BIOS is going to be in my plan. I'll keep swapping until I get a good one. Dealing with Acer support is for those who are outside of the Best Buy return window. I don't plan on being outside of that window until I have verified that I have a good unit.
So, why would I even mess with this? My wife thinks this model perfectly fits her needs. She prefers the lower positioned keypad. This laptop is unique and you can't find another like it, so I'm willing to "try" to get a good one.
Everyone, please post if you get a good one. Also, to help others, please post what type of router you are using to get either a good or bad connection (i.e. g,b,n, dual band?)

In response to legzam, I had a similar experience with my first ever Acer purchase of 14" Acer M5-481PT touchscreen last year. I also ended up exchanging that one at Best Buy. Even after the exchange, I continued to have issues. It was only after Acer released some software patches and BIOS updates, that all WiFi, stability and Power Save WiFi freeze up problems disappeared. Until then I had to live with "workarounds". But now I feel that the M5-481PT is the best laptop I have ever owned! But of course it is hard to be patient especially if the problems are insurmountable or if there are no temporary "workarounds".
I have owned Dells, Toshibas but Acer Technical Support is absolutely the worst-- they are pretty much worthless. But since I'm technically savvy and can troubleshoot a lot myself, I decided to stick around with Acer for now.
I plan on buying the R7-572 but after Acer releases new patches/BIOS updates etc (many manufacturers seem to do this within 3, 4 months of release).

Well, my recent post in which I detail my chat session with Acer support was removed as it did not comply with the Acer Community User Agreement. Specifically:
"12 -Don’t publically share anything that you receive in any one-to-one communication, be it email or private messages, without the author's consent. This includes communications received from Acer, Acer employees, Moderators or any Community members...."
The content of chat messages with Acer employees falls under this guideline.
So, anyways to summarize, if you buy from Best Buy and your unit is defective, if you really like the machine in other aspects and would like to give it another chance, follow zakpack advice and exchange it for another one at Best Buy to see if you have better luck, or return it and look for something else, because if you choose to send it to Acer to be repaired or to be exchanged, there is not guaranty that the problem will be fix, and there is no option for a refund. After Acer replace or fix your computer, if you have the same of other issues, you only choice will be to contact support again for another replacement or repair, in other words you are stacked with the machine and you cannot get your money.
