I've found that installing the old Windows 7 drivers actually work out very well for VGA, assuming of course the Windows 8 drivers fail on install. Something I've seen more than a few times since the 8.1 release.

I have a 4 year old Acer Aspire 4810TG. I has performed flawlessly and has been upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 to Win 8.1.
Since upgrading to Win 8.1, it has NO VIDEO when connected to the AC Power Supply but works fine on Battery. I have tried several AC Power Supplies and the problem is issolated to the PC itself.
I suspected it to be a driver issue and have reinstalled the drivers without success.
Any other thoughts or advice.
Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving.

No problem, Aded. The order in which you install software sometimes makes a difference. Other software you have installed might clash with your hardware or other programs. Some people do upgrade their operating system on a laptop with no problems. Some have a few problems. And some foul up everything.

I found A not necessarily THE solution on my own.
I went into the BIOS and changed the video from SWITCHABLE to DISCRETE and rebooted.
The ACER 4820TG now works perfectly.
Hope this helps my colleagues.
Best regards and thanks,
Michael

I have Aspire 4820G installed with Windows 8.1 and upgrade the graphic driver using Device Manger. I faced with the same problem. Switchable graphics not fuction correctly. I have tried to set the BIOS value from switchable to dedicate graphic the system run well but it drain the battery. Usually I can use nearly 4 hours but with dedicate set the battery decrease to almost 2 hours.
I try to seach drivers from acer, but none exist.
Do anyone have a solutions ?
