Graphics Card wtih driver that supports openGL3.1 or newer.

[ Editado ]

Hi,

I've installed the latest version of Autocad 2014 on Windows 7(64bit), and when I lunched the program, I was asked to update the driver of my VGA as this message below.

However, when I went to the home page of my Acer, then searched for all drivers/latest for Windows 7(64bit), I didn't find any drivers for graphics card at all.

Besides, when I installed the 2013 version of AutoCAD, I didn't face any errors updating graphics card.

My Graphic card is Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express chipset Family(Microsoft Corporation-WDDM1.1)
X3100.

Re: Graphics Card wtih driver that supports openGL3.1 or newer.

Try Intel's site for an update of your 965 drivers.
Intel provide support for OpenGL on the 965 Express Chipset. Have a look here for info:

You can also use Intel's update utility to find your driver:

I have really installed the new driver of graphics card and it only updated the openGl from version 1.1 into 2.0.

But the aut desk Recap wasn't open and I am still asked to update the driver to supports open GL 3.

Yes, I have been told that my ACER uses a GMA X3100 integrated on GM965 chipset (launched in 2007 by Intel). This video card supports maximum OpenGL 2.0 under Windows (OpenGL 2.1 under Linux).

See this page on Wiki. So Recap couldn't be installed on your system.

As a result, if I want to upgrage my graphics card, how can I do, can I take it out and replace it with another one?

As the GMA X3100 is integrated, I don't believe it can be changed.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

I really  was only told that my Graphics card is integrated, but I didn't see things about this mentioned on the sepcs of my laptop. Thus,

First: How can I know if my Graphics card is integrated or not.

Second: if so, then how can I upgraed if willing?

Finaly: If you have a look at my screenshots again, you will notice the latest driver of Intel Graphics Media Accelrator  updated OpenGL version form 1.1 into  maximum OpenGL 2.0 under Windows.

But the OpenGL required for opening Autodesk  is 3.1

Here is an excerpt from 'Extensa 5220 Quick Spec':

"Mobile Intel® GL960 Express Chipset with integrated 3D
graphics, featuring Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator
(GMA) X3100 with up to 358/3843 MB of Intel® Dynamic
Video Memory Technology 4.0 (8 MB of dedicated system
memory, up to 350/3763 MB of shared system memory)
supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 9 and DirectX® 10"

You can review the document here:

As no physical graphics card is present, it is not possible to change. Your graphics forms part of the motherboard chipset.

Remember, your laptop first appeared ~7 years ago now - back in 2007 I believe. It may simply be asking a little too much to expect it to handle today's requirements.
