Flash Bios not found

Hi,

I think I need to do the flash BIOS installation on my Aspire one. Using my SNID I got my exact model, and clicked the BIOS tab under Drivers. I downloaded the BIOS version, but there is no FLA**bleep**.EXE application in there. Given the warning I see there (wrong BIOS may harm your computer!) I hesitate to take any further steps.

Where can I find the correct BIOS to copy onto a flash drive, along with FLA**bleep**, to get my notebook to boot again?

Thanks

Chris

Huh. I copied the link from the page with my drivers, or thought I did... Lemme look. Yep- that's all it says on the URL. It gives me a choice of a Windows 8 BIOS (not for upgrades, it says) and a version 1.09. I don't have Win 8.

My model is A0756 (is that a zero or an 'oh'?)

    Thanks,

    it's an o not 0.

if you don't have Win8, the latest bios is 1.09 and there's an .exe inside to launch under windows.

please check your BIOS version prior to flash it.

Right. I was not clear. My machine powers up, but the screen remains black. It has all the symptoms of that BIOS problem described in many places on the interwebs. I am looking for a way to put the BIOS onto a flash drive, start the machine and reload the BIOS using the Fn-ESC method.

    Thanks

Sometimes unzipping the .exe will extract the BIOS.
Try to do it with 7z

When I open the .zip, I get an executable called Q1VZC109 and a readme that says "Please click "Q1VZC109.exe" to update bios."

This helps not at all, since I cannot execute it on a machine that won't boot Smiley Sad

Yes....unzip Q1VZC109.exe and you will find a xxxxxx.FD file, this is the BIOS file.

    Thanks.

I used 7zip to extract the files. However, there are 2 .FD files in the list:
    HM77x64.fd

    NM70x64.fd

...and no clue about which one to rename and copy to the flash drive.

Also, there's no FLASH*T.EXE in the list. The .exe files are:

    FLSHOOK.EXE

    FWUPDLCL.EXE

    INSYDEFLASH.EXE

...and no clue about which one (or all!) I should put on the flash drive.

    BUT...almost there!
