Factory reset on Windows 8 laptop.

My laptop is an Acer V3-571 with windows 8.It wouldn't download Windows updates so I decided to do a factory reset via Acer Recovery Management.I started it 3 hours ago and it is only at 38%.Is it normal to take as long as this?

Re: Factory reset on Windows 8 laptop.

I'm going to assume that the "Complete wipe of the drive" took several hours to finish, but the recovery process completed successfully?

Re: Factory reset on Windows 8 laptop.

I had just purchased the laptop on Thursday and after setting it up,I tried to do Windows Updates. It stuck at 0% downloaded and from past experience,I had been told if this happens,to do a factory restore.I started to do this via Acer Recovery Management, and it started to do this o.k.My only concern was that it was very slow in doing so,and it eventually completed successfully after about 4 and a half hours and everything is working o.k.I was just worried that there was something wrong with my new laptop,(my last windows 8 laptop a samsung only took 25 minuretes to do a factory restore. It had to be returned as faulty so I changed to the Acer.)

By the way, what button/buttons do I press on start up to do a factory restore. My old Acer laptop was alt. and f10.Is this one the same.

Thank you for your reply.

All of the Windows 8 recovery methods are covered in the link I used above.

Glad to hear that it is working properly.

Re: Factory reset on Windows 8 laptop.

Thank you very much for your reply.I have read through the the links but I cannot see anything about the time it takes.I still worry a wee bit that there is something wrong with it taking so long. Can you through any light on that. Also can you tell me what buttons to press on starting up to put my laptop into recovery mode.I have done a refresh since that and it only took about 25 minutes.

Re: Factory reset on Windows 8 laptop.

I see.  There are two options when you restore the system.

If you select, "Fully clean the drive", it will take quite a long time, as it removes everything from the drive prior to recreating all of the data for your system.  The time it takes will vary by system, depending on hard drive size.

The other does not do a complete data wipe and is considerably shorter in time.

Re: Factory reset on Windows 8 laptop.

We do not support "Aomei products" and there is no reason to use other products when recovering the system.
