I am a Mac girl solely, but I am working on my uncle's PC.  I HATE Windows 8.   He has an Aspire One 725-0687 that is so boggy and freezes.  The kicker is he's not a big technology guy and has only used this thing a few times.  It's free of any viruses and spyware but the machine is just crappy...freezing and everything else.   Is there a way to downgrade this OS to 7 without previously owning Windows 7???  I mean, obviously, I can reformat the thing with 8 as provided by Acer, but can I opt OUT of 8 and get 7 instead from Acer????  I am about ready to chuck this POS system and put Linux on it.    Please help.   This thing is useless! Thanks in advance!

i don't know if Acer offers any kind of free downgrade (need to wait some official answer).

by the way, before downgrading, i would try an OS refresh to see if it can fix your issues:

You can attempt to install Windows 7 but be aware that on Windows 8 units , they use some security method called UEFI which may interfere with your ability to install another OS.
