Dolby Home Theatre v4 keeps turning off by itself

Hello,

On my laptop (aspire V3-771G) I have Dolby Home Theater V4 and this enhances the sound but everytime I use a communication device (like ventrilo, skype, teamspeak) the Dolby Home Theater will turn off (see image)

Things I have tried:

  • Download the correct drivers from acer website
  • Make sure sounds don't get lowered when joining a communication platform (see image)
  • Reinstall drivers, tried different drivers

This problem has always been there. It is just lately that it annoys me...

I also got warranty on my laptop for a different problem, they replaced the motherboard and ram and did a clean install. The problem was there before the warranty and after it.

I have the same issue but with a V5 552G 8632. Sometimes it happens when I close the lid but that's rare.

Plugging or unplugging a connected USB device turns Dolby back on. Is this a clue to anyone?

I haven't discovered a pattern of Dolby shutting off but I'm still observing closely. Dolby's ghost?

I am suspecting that none of the software that you have listed, "ventrilo, skype, teamspeak" are Dolby qualified.

Thus, when activating them, Dolby is turning off to prevent any issues with sound quality.

Dolby Home Theater is not intended to be used with VoIP apps.

Well that is rather stupid isn't it?....
That is like singling out every possible gamer that wants to use VOIP.

I wish there was a way to install an audio driver without the dolby installed. I have tried it before but it always gave me errors / incompatible issues...

Try to reinstall Audio driver (Dolby embedded). Open Acer Recovery Management => Reinstall Drivers or Applications => Install Audio Codec => follow instructions and restart.

could you please try updating your lan drivers and see if this this fixes your problem? that fixed the issue for me (refer to http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Dolby-Home-Theatre-v4-keeps-turning-off-by-itself/m-p/161459/highlight/true#M31327).

while you're at it, updating your w-lan drivers probably wouldn't hurt, either.
