i Bought a cooling pad which is 1inch smaller than my notebook (V5-573G) IS it ok to use it with my notebook? will it cause problems?

If it's open to air under the air intake screens on the bottom of the laptop, I see no problem.If the fan(s) are under the intake ports, great.If they're not it's not really doing its job very well.
