Hello, I just upgraded my few weeks old ‘Acer Aspire E1-572G’ (intel 4500U i7 Processor, 4 Gigabytes of RAM, 1 Gigabytes AMD Radeon HD8670M Graphics Card) from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 directly from my PC prompt message and since then, I’ve been getting 2 error messages.
First, when I close my laptop or press the ‘sleep’ button, my PC wouldn’t wake up normal. It’ll start displaying this error message after displaying a blue screen: ‘Windows encountered a problem' and the error 'VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR'. After which, it’ll restart all over again and I’ll lose every file I didn’t save.
Secondly, soon after my PC restarts, I’ll also get the following message:
“Catalyst Control Center: Host application has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the application and notify you if a solution is found.”
Can you please help me to resolve these issues?
Thanks.

It sounds like there is a software problem with the driver from when you updated to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8. If you haven't already, please follow the steps below to get drivers for your system:
We recommend updating all your drivers when you update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8.

Hello fredmgb,
After upgrading your Windows, some essential files from AMD might not be working because not compatible or were removed by Windows during the upgrade installation.
You have to re-install your AMD graphics drivers from the link that is already mentioned by Ryan-Acer or from this web address: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers/486
These are the drivers you have to download to fix your issue.
| VGA | AMD | VGA Driver | 13.152.0.0 | 279.4 MB | 2013/10/11 | |
| VGA | Intel | VGA Driver | 10.18.10.3355 | 134.9 MB | 2013/12/19 |
It's also recommended to also re-install other drivers (audio, card reader, chipset, etc.) to make them work properly.
Regards,
Dio I.
