I have an Acer Aspire Timeline U and all of a sudden cannot connect to the internet.
When I go through the troubleshooter, it says there is a "problem with wireless adaptor or access point".
I've tried Fn F3 several times, disabled and enabled the adaptor and done system restore. Not sure where to turn next.

Hi Philip
I presume you've tried connecting other wireless devices to your router - just to rule out a problem with it?
It's a bit drastic, but the only way to rule out componant failure, is to back up and do a full system recovery. If it STILL refuses to work, then the wireless adaptor will have failed.

I would first use the device manager to uninstall the WLAN card and reinstall to see if this resolves the problem.
Failing that, as advised by Finlux do a complete system restore (having backed up your personal files first).
Good luck ! ![]()

Thanks
I also went onto Acer Chat tthis morning and they also recommended system restore (I'd done the uninstall/install bit). Trouble is I've been stuck on "setup is starting services" for the last 8 hours. A light is still pulsing so I'm reluctant to intervene....unless there is something I should be doing?

Hi Philip
It sounds as if the "restore" bit went wrong. What you'll need to do is to start again (sorry!).
Either restart, then at the Acer logo screen press ALT & F10 to access the eRecovery program, or boot from the recovery disks (if you made them). This should now reinstall Windows correctly.

It is probably not the done thing to reply to yuor own post but things have moved on.
This morning I have chatted further with Acer and (since it can't be recovered using Alt F10), they conclude that my unit is corrupted. Yesterday I had a working laptop with a wireless issue, now, after following their advice, I have nothing!
Are there any tricks anyone knows to get this thing back into life??

If you've made recovery disks - try booting from them. It might only be the eRecovery partition at fault. If you've not made them, they can be bought from Acer support.
