I have an Acer netbook D-1606 w/ 1 GB of memory. It's running really slow and keeps telling me my memory is low. I've tried removing programs, degragging, etc. Can I add more memory---easily and inexpensively?

Hello cindyann,
Acer netbook D-1606, I guess it's an Aspire One D270 (AOD270).
In this case, your laptop have only one slot memory and the maximum is 2Gb.
You can change the 1 Gb stick memory by a 2 Gb.
You'll find memory part number with these finder tools:

Yes, that's the model and that's what I wanted to know. It keeps saying that the memory is low and it's running slowly. How difficult is it to change to 2 gb?

Hello,
Could you indicate me what memory stick did you buy?
Could you confirm me that's the correct model Aspire D270-1606 (NU.SGNAA.003) and that it works under Windows 7 Starter?

I got: 2GB DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V from Crucial. Yes, that's the correct model # w/Windows 7 starter.
I tried putting the old memory back in and it still didn't work. I don't know if I screwed something up putting it back together or if I didn't connect something right.

Hello,
The only difficulty is to remove the keyboard FPC (flexible) when you return it.
I guess the memory clips are well locked.
Have you access to the bios setup utility( with the old memory stick)?
If yes:
1- Push the power button and press [F2] to enter in the bios setup utiliy.
2- Press [F9] to Load setup defaults.
3- Press [F10] to Save and exit.
Note:
When you screw in a plastic hole, before you unscrew lightly to find the thread. Like this, you will not damage the thread.
