Battery Question On Apire 5755g

Hello,

I hope someone can help.

Since I've had my laptop (nearly two years) if I was running off battery, but then needed to plug in the charger because the battery was running low, then I would do so, the battery light would illuminate orange and the battery started to charge and all was well and I could keep on using the laptop.

Now, when I do the same thing, the battery does not charge and the battery light does not illuminate. The only way to get the battery to charge is to shut down the laptop, remove the battery, plug in the AC adaptor, turn the laptop on, and then insert the battery. It then starts to charge.

I have recently bought a new battery as the old one was a couple of years old but the same things happens. It's most odd.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Thanks,

Chris.

Re: Battery Question On Apire 5755g

hi...

You may try these steps to check the battery issue, shutdown Windows and disconnect the AC adapter, then remove battery and connect the connect AC Adapter

Power on the laptop , from the Start menu, type device manager in the search box and press Enter to open device manager.

Under the Batteries category, right-click all instances of Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery , and select Uninstall, even if you have only one.

Then shutdown, the computer, disconnect AC adapter, Insert battery and connect AC adapter

Power on the laptop, Upon restart, the Power Meter should now reflects, Plugged In, Charging

You may also check if your computer has the updated BIOS version installed. The latest version released for your computer is V 1.21.

Let us know if you need further assistance with battery related issues. We will be happy to help.

Re: Battery Question On Apire 5755g

Hello,

Thank you for your help.

I have tried your suggestion and followed it to the letter but to no avail.

The laptop is now connected to the AC adaptor but the laptop is running off the battery, not the mains power and the battery is not being charged and the battery light on the laptop is not lit. When I turn off the mains power the laptop remains on so it's definitely running on the battery and not the mains power even when the adaptor is plugged in.

I uninstalled the driver for the battery as you suggested but it's back there again now.

Is there anything else I can try?

Many thanks,

Chris.

Re: Battery Question On Apire 5755g

hi..

Have you checked by plugging the AC adpter to another working wall outlet?

Are you able to use the computer without the battery plugged in?

You may check by removing the battery and connecting only the AC adapter.

Re: Battery Question On Apire 5755g

Hello,

Yes, I've checked all the wall outlets and they all work but thanks for asking.

I can use the computer without the battery plugged in. That's what I have to do initially then when I want to charge the battery I insert the battery with the computer on and that's the only way I can get it to charge.

Inicidentally, I had to replace my laptop's screen not long ago. Do you think this could be the cause? Could I have disturbed a wire perhaps? One of the screws that holds the screen in is quite near where you plug the AC adaptor in.

Thanks,

Chris.
