Aspire v3-571 problem with sound/HDMI

Hi, I'm trying to get my laptop to provide normal audio output to the headphone jack while it has an HDMI connector connecting it to the TV. There is sound at the TV but I also need it at the laptop. I've spent about six hours looking at various sources but can find nothing specific to Acer and the Intel/Realtek setup provided in the laptop. Can anyone provide specifics of how to do it or just tell me I'm SOL.

I do not believe that you will be able to send sound out from the audio jack and the HDMI port.

It has to be routed through one or the other.
