Aspire one D260 help!

Does anyone still have it?

If so I'd really appreciate some help I've been trying to fix this for a couple years without success with the search engines.

anyways i just figured it would be simplier if I could get it from any similar laptop.

What is a clockgen? I'm not familiar with the term.  And how do you plan to repair it? What is the zip file supposed to do?

Hey,

Thanks for the reply!

Clock generator is the tiny circuitry that controls the frequencies of the various interfaces, say pci, cpu, memory or video.

The zip file on the link allows the export of these configurations. To fix my system tables, I would need someone to download and unzip it, open the .exe file, click on the creator tab, choose export and post it. Then I would simply download the file, import and set.

Here's a few links:

This is what I found online, but I do not  know if it is correct or recommend anyone doing anything like that before exporting and securing the exported file online.

I'm a bit confused here. What problems did you have when downloading, unzipping and running the executable?

Sorry that my choice of words was confusing. I had no problems there. I lost the pll overwriting it.

A pll?  A phase locked loop? Or a pll file? Or something else? In any case, why can't you do what you want to do from another computer?

Re: Aspire one D260 help!

PLL is the clock generator file extention, as in .pll.

I had nother d260, but it was stolen. So I have no access to this specific model to have a confirmation about the clockgen version and/or export the correct file.

The SetFsb does not have such .pll on its source code.

Maybe because the frequency is NOT software controllable in your machine.

Re: Aspire one D260 help!

It can. The clock generator is a small chip on the motherboard. I believe that would be the case for the CPU side of the bus , but the processor can be hardmodded by cutting pin 14. Setting wrong values for its clock frequencies causes an exception that shows as red values at the table. I think it means the resonator is not working at the same frequencies with the cpu and slowing it down flooding the cache while the system waits for the next cycle.

Heh-heh. Sorta reminds me of how some folks really enjoy doing TX and other mods on 2-ways. So, I stand corrected.  It's not 'supposed to be' software controlled. 8^) Have fun with it!
