I got the Aspire V5 a month ago for schoolwork and for browsing the internet. It ran beautifully for the first couple of weeks and then it became extremely slow. Mostly this is just in internet browsing, trying to open youtube takes a few minutes on this thing compared to the second it takes my phone. Im writing this from my phone because I don't even want to mess with how long it would take the laptop. Opening any app could take so long I would just give up. I tried switching back from chrome to ie and that really didn't do anything. I rarely use the apps, I mostly just use the desktop view. I've saved a few photos and videos but the laptop was slow before that. I don't think it's a virus because I haven't downloaded anything or gone on really any abnormal websites.

In most cases the root cause for this behavior is a process that is consuming most of the processor computing power. To check if this is the case open the task manager and look for the overall CPU usage.
