Aspire V5-131 roll back to Win

I did not do enough researce when i purchased Aspire V5-131 (non-touchscreen) to learn touchscreen and Win8. I find it has no value to my intended purpose. Thus the question , can ACER support group remove the Win 8 O/S and install Win 7 O/S in place of Win 8. If so, what would be the process to get the needed revision?

I think the process will be involved unless it's a Win8 Pro OEM installation. Do you know if your vendor also sells this model with a Win7 installation? If so, it might be worth a try to ask them if they'd consider a trade of sorts.

Re: Aspire V5-131 roll back to Win

Thanks Jack for ur comeback, Yes the V5-131 has non-touch screen Win 8 as OEM from Acer and the seller has other Win 7 & 8 Acer machines but will not take this one as trade for any reduction in price in a more suitable one. Essentially the seller says; sorry Charlie u have a very expensive paper weight. How would  I contact Acer to see if they can remove Win* and replace it with Win 7?

Re: Aspire V5-131 roll back to Win

I'm not sure how Acer would handle such a downgrade request. But if it's still under warranty, it's definitely worth a try to get telephone or chat support and make your request here http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact .

If Acer won't do it, there are a  few more options. But first let's see how Acer responds.

Re: Aspire V5-131 roll back to Win

Acer does not provide a service that would take the unit to Windows 7.

A couple options you do have, is that you can contact support, see if removing the OS is an option. This is available in some regions depending on policy, regulations, etc... If you have not agreed to the Windows End User Liscening Agreement it could be removed. In the US, I know that the team can do this in some circumstances but you would responsible for shipping the product to the repair center so that the key and software can be removed, and I believe they'll refund the cost of the OS to Acer (not the retail value).

From there you would be free to load any OS you choose, however Acer would not provide support for the software of course.

Hope this helps.

Re: Aspire V5-131 roll back to Win

Thanks Cory. Since this is mainly an unfamiliar interface issue and not a system problem, I'm gonna suggest CRayD try one of the Win7 emulators for Win8.

So please Google ""windows 7 emulator (or emulation) for windows 8" and see if one of these options might work for you.

Good idea Jack. It may take a bit of research and learning, but there's really nothing you can't be done in Win 8 that was done in Win 7.
