Higher capacity USB still not recognized as valid backup location.  Tried an exernal 32GB micro SD card.  The backup routine found it and I selected it to use.  It started out ok, but when it had done about 4GB it said I needed to insert another drive.  I tried twice with same result.  I finally used a 250GB exernal HD that had 45GB of unused space left on it.  The system found it and indicated it completed the backup, so I guess it's there.  It put about 25GB of something on the HD anyway!  Thanks for all your help and suggestiions.
