Hi! all,
To be frank, I was really looking forward to having the new aspire R7. What a dissappointment it has turned out to be. I bought the laptop through Argos stores here in the UK. I have to admit they gave good service it arrived ontime, with no damage to the packaging. I used it for less than three days and after taking a look in the bios....mind you not making changes, when I exited from the bios and tried to reboot, nothing.
After a bit of nonense with Acer, I got the laptop back and sent it back to Argos, who very efficently replaced the system, unlike Acer who told me it was going to take more than a month to repair.
The new laptop was delivered by next day delivery, I had it less than three HOURS and after exiting the bios again I got the same fault.
This time when I talked to Argos, they asked if I would check out another laptop. I agreed again the laptop lasted three days.
So as agreed with Argos it was returned and my money refunded.
What is the problem here, have Acer lost control of their quality program? let's face it if you can't have full access to all areas of your system then what's the point of having it??
Really dissapointed in Acer now this was going to be my third Acer laptop. Well all I can say is that I will not be buying from Acer again.
Be warned people, this is a good alptop when it works but as a MAJOR fault that should be getting fixed before too long. Spen your money else where.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. Can you tell me what version of the BIOS you're currently running?
I see Penguinjim's post, but it's honestly the first I've heard of this issue though the product has been out for some time. I'll start asking questions to see what I can find.

Thanks again Whazzup I am the guy that asked you for a copy of that fix to earlier this week :-). The problem is that to use it I think you need to be able to boot the machine, and I can't even get that :-(

If you do find something, I would be much obliged, as I really do like that machine.

I'm asking questions, but I'm hoping we get more info here, as it's an odd set of circumstances.
Just to be clear, do you have an R7-572 or an R7-572G? If you're not sure, could you send me the serial number (back of the ezel hinge) and I'll take a look.
I've got our R7-572 here, and I've tried every way I can think of to leave the BIOS without saving anything and I can't get it to do anything. I'm really quite shocked that it's not responding at all. Have you tried holding the power button down for 5+ seconds? What happens when you boot it up at all?

Hi! Acer- Cory,
It's the R7-572
Serial number is: [edited for privacy]
SNID: [edited for privacy]
If I hold the power button down for 5 seconds, nothing happens until I take my finger off the button, then the blue light comes on, I can here the processor fan go, then it stops and nothing happens after that. No post screen no display of any sort, just the battery charge and blue lights are on.
