I tried to restore to original setting and am getting an 0xc00000f status. The page says to insert windows installation disc. I do not have this disc.

I recently purchased the erecovery disks for an Aspire5733 from Acer, but towards the end of recovery, got the error message that the image couln't be applied (I/O error). I've read that this could be an indication that the HD is failing. Setup (F2) on this laptop does'nt have a diagnostic option - is there any other way to verify the HD? Also read elsewhere that these recovery disks need files from the original HD in order to be used. If failing, can I replace the HD and still use the recovery disks I bought?
Thanks for any help.
