This disables switching the airplane mode with FN+F3, but has no effect on WiFi. I think I will do a factory reset and hope that at least this will solve the problem.
There is always trouble with my Acer products. This will definitely be the last one I purchased...

After a factory reset WiFi is still disabled. Does anyone have an idea if this can be fixed by myself, or do I have to send it for repair?

Give it a last try:
boot to BIOS pressing F2 at boot
check for an option "load optmized default" or "load default settings", select it and then after the load press F10 to save and boot.

Au contraire, with ZA firewall, the wifi address has to be written into the firewall, or it doesn't exist. It's not always automatic. And the wifi router could be confused and need its reset button pushed, or unplugged along with the modem.
