I have read just about every Knowledge base article, Post, and FAQ, I could find here about this issue, but have not come to a solution yet.
The netbook is a aspire one D257-1417 with windows 7 starter, bought as a factory refurb (supposedly) daughters netbook.
When starting the netbook, I get the screen where my only options are launch startup repair or start windows normally.
Both options take you to startup repair. Which fails...
I have the repair discs that I got from acer to fix this issue
Big problem is F2, F8, F10, F12 or any variation with alt or shift, or both and the F key, does nothing at all.

F2 must work.

Tap the button before power the device and continue until it enter BIOS.
