Ok so this thing is driving me crazy. The backlight is coming on but nothing else. I can hook it up to an external monitor via the VGA port and the external works. But still just a white screen on the internal monitor.  Any ideas?

Sounds as if the panel or the connection to it, has an issue. Best thing is to take it to your local PC store, who should be able to repair it for you.

They have all told me that it is the monitor... and even replaced the monitor and it is still down. Do you know the names of these parts or part numbers? I had an IT friend look at it and he thinks its the LCD inverter board but we can not locate where to buy one.

They seem to be difficult to track down. I've seen some on eBay, but they don't appear to be for your model.

I'm sorry, I don't have the part numbers. You could try an email to Acer to see if they can advise, or as I said previously, your local PC store may well be able to source them.
