I have an Aspire 7720 laptop and the monitor is displaying horizontal split screen, where both sections display the same thing. Also, the whole monitor displays vertical dashed lines. I tried to connect a projector and the projector took no signal. I rebooted without removing the cable and then the projector took signal but the laptop’s monitor took no signal, it was totally black. What is wrong? Solutions?

If you go into the BIOS (Press F2 when computer first starts), does the screen show split? If it does, there is a hardware problem and you may need repair.
