Aspire 5552 will not start

I have had my Aspire 5552-5898 since mid 2011, and about a month ago it ceased to boot. I dont know what to do, I have read up on the issue and tried everything suggested, I have made sure it is not the battery, not the RAM, not the HDD, not the GPU or display. I go to power the machine on, fan and drives spin up, then a second or two later everything stops. Maybe someone knows of a solution not posted anywhere, or maybe there is a way I can get it fixed (for a reasonable price... aka not the 250 that acer wants for out of warranty hardware, 250 is more than the thing is worth at this point)

Do you get the Acer logo screen before everything stops? If not, do you hear any beep codes on first powering on?

No, the system did not get as far as POST.

How did you check that the battery, RAM, HDD, GPU & display were OK?

Re: Aspire 5552 will not start

Battery: As suggested by a few people around the internet (including on the acer forums) by removing the battery and disconnecting AC power, then holding the power button for 30 seconds (power reset), after re-inserting the battery, and connecting AC power and having that fail I did a power reset again and tried it on only AC power which failed.

RAM: Reseated it multiple times (as suggested by others), and tried it on a family member's laptop that accepts the same spec RAM.

HDD: Same as second diagnostic for RAM, as well as just trying to boot without the HDD installed.

As for the GPU, from reading I found that a black screen issue would result from a dead gpu, however audio would still remain, and POST would be achieved. If it were purely a dead GPU then this would be the most likely scenario. And the display has no damage what so ever and was working fine the second before all this occured.

OK. Next step. It may be overheating. Did you check for dust bunnies when you opened it? If not, have you tried to apply a strong vacuum cleaner hose to the intake? Or alternatively applied a strong air current to the exhaust? Or both?
