I bought an Aspire 5552-5686 exactly 3 years and 6mths ago and so did my son.  Recently both our computers started just shutting down randomly especially when playing videos.  Then last week his just died completely and 5 days later so did mine.  When you power them on the indicator light comes on but the fan doesn't start and the screen remains blank.  this cannot be a coincidence.

That is unfortunate.The first thing I might suggest is to perform a power reset to see if the machine will continue boot at all. Remove the AC Adapter and Battery. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds and then plug the AC Adapter in to see if the system will power. If the fans still aren't spinning on and you're not seeing anything on the screen, it may indicate an issue with the motherboard.
