Hi
I have an Acer 4810TZG laptop which I would like to install the Western Digital Black Dual drive (www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1190) in.
I've been informed by Acer that the machine will only support up to 500GB hard drives, but I tried to explain that the primary drive will be 120GB (the SSD part) ,and that the 1TB hard drive will be seen as a separate partition. I have already upgraded the RAM to 8GB and currently have a 500GB hard drive in.
I tried a different 1TB drive and it didn't work. I tried a clean install of Windows form the Restore DVD abd also cloning my existing drive, but each time I got so far & came up against an issue (in most cases Windows Update woud not work and some drivers failed).
Anyone know if this WD drive will work?
Cheers
Al

Hi AlShack
If the motherboard or BIOS is designed for a maximum of 500GB, then the short answer is no. If the other 1TB drive you tried didn't work, the one in your link won't either!

Cheers for that. I just wanted confirmation that even though the 1TB drive in the WD unit was effectively a separate drive the machine would still not work properly?
I'll be using the 1TB bit as a data store only, with the OS on the 120GB SSD drive.
Thanks.
