Hi
I have an acer aspire v3-771g, recently upgraded to win 8.1
Had many drivers issues, needed to rollback my intel display driver due to a major issue, anyway that got solved
I'm still left with a weird issue of alt keys. Both of them are not working most of the time. Sometimes I press them million times and they start working again, but after being inactive for a while the problem repeats
No dust dirt or whatsoever pretty sure the problem is not hardware. No sings of problem before upgrade to win 8.1
I have all windows updates installed
have downloaded and installed latest elantech driver update. no help
BIOS Version/Date Insyde Corp. V2.16, 14/01/2013
Thanks for any help

Michael,
I just upgraded my brothers V3-771G earlier this week to Windows 8.1. He was complaining of some sluggishness in games. I upgraded his BIOS to 2.23, restored the system back to factory defaults and then did the update to Windows 8.1. There was a minor hiccup locating the upgrade, but I finally got the Microsoft Store to push it through. Then I installed Dayz on it and played for a couple hours without issue. Dayz is very reliant on the ALT key, so I can confidently say that there was no issue with 8.1 in this case. My brother remarked that he didn't know the machine could feel that good after he got use to lackluster OS behavior.
I say this just to provide some hope, that if you can get it right, everything will work, and will work well for you. I would start with the BIOS upgrade, and if you don't see the improvement, take a look at restoring the computer to Windows 8, and try the upgrade again on the fresh OS.
Hope this helps.
Cory

Thanks Cory
I actually followed your advice and started by upgrading the BIOS. The alt key still doesnt work and now I cant connect to my LCD external screen (it's not recognized) which is a problem I had before and solved by rolling back the graphic driver
I'm so afraid of restoring to windows 8 (what will happen to software installed so far?) and the upgrading again to 8.1 cause I had so much pain with this upgrade part of which I managed to sort out..
