Adding second HDD in caddy instead optical drive for 5553g

I have a peculiar issue here. I recently got a caddy that replaces optical drive and where you can install another hdd.

I have two Acer laptops, 5742 and 5553g. When I moved primari prive to SSD, I wanted to use second HDD as storage mainly and have it available inside laptop. Optical drive have not got much use from my side, hence that decision.

To cut the story short, I first upgraded 5742, and averything worked fine, SSD to boot and second HDD in caddy.

WHen I did the same for 5553g, I cannot past the POST on BIOS, as system freezes and only way is to turn it off, pull the second HDD and then boot again. Having optical drive, system boots with not much problem. I have tried flashing old versions of BIOS for 5553g, and they all have the same issue (gone back to v1.14). Currently running BIOS v1.23.
