I have an acer aspire 5745 with a i3 processor running windows 8.1 and i am wondering how much ram my computer cna support andifican support 6gb of ram. Currently i am at 4. Any help is appreciated thanks.

For the Aspire 5745 (2 sockets), you can upgrade up 4 Gb (OS-32 bits) and 8 Gb (OS-64 bits).

If I can be allowed; thanks for the previous information, and how would that apply to the 5745DG i3 cpu with Win7x64 Home Premium?

I note from the Crucial downloadable system scanner I could get 2 x 4GB like this:

8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V

Yet some forums say a 5745 will allow 8GBx2 which is not offered by the Crucial screens and maybe would be too expensive for likely payback.

Any comments appreciated.

Certain models of 5745 will allow you to upgrade to 16GB memory, it depends on the actual model number of yours, for example, in  the touch model of 5745PG, memory can be upgraded to 16GB.
