Hello all
I have an acer aspire 5738G with windows vista installed.
In 4 years i have done a lot of recovery (vista is a too bad os) and now i want to install windows 7 .
My aspire 5738G doesn't boot anymore in vista (one more time), i take my windows 7 ultimate dvd and put it in the DVD driver.
It boot but the windows 7 steup always hang with a message
"a required cd/dvd device driver is missing ..."
I have tried with the Intel chipset Driver, Intel SATA AHCI driver buti can't install windows 7 ...
The message is always there ![]()
Can someone help me or tell me what driver it needs to complete the windows 7 setup.
Thanks in advance

If you haven't done so already, first change the boot order in the bios to the DVD drive and see if that resolves the problem. Report back with results.

Hello
I have already done that.
I also have tried with an usb key.
And tried to push AHCI driver downloaded from the acer support page (for my aspire 5738G) on an usb key an give them to windows 7 setup ...
I think i have tried all the driver and all combination (windows7 x86, windows 7 x64) and i always have this message.
but when i click on "browse" i can see all my drive (hdd, dvd an usb) ...
I don't know what driver this win 7 setup want to install on this aspire 5738G

Since you have the USB install stick, have you tried camcel the installation when you get the driver message? This should bring you back to the start installation screen. Then remove the stick, and put it in another port, and then try to re-start the installation.

There could be an issue with the file on your original installation disk. You might want to try creating a new installation medium from another iso source. http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.

I have downloaded this one 2 times and tried on a dvd and an usb key.
I also have downloaded the X17-59479.iso (64 bits edition) and also tried with an other dvd and usb key ...
And i still have the same issue ![]()

I don't know why but it's working with this ISO.
I'll try with the french one (because your link is for the english one) and tell you if it works too.
maybe the home premium have some drivers that the ultimate one does'nt have ????
